Project Description

The Ocean and Climate Literacy Webinar Series (OCL) is a youth-led initiative designed to address the critical gap in ocean and climate education for young people worldwide. Recognizing that the ocean is a fundamental part of the climate crisis solution, OCL delivers engaging, interactive webinar sessions that transform participants from learners into advocates. Through live activities and impactful speakers, we equip youth with the knowledge to understand the ocean's role as a climate regulator and the tools to champion sustainability within their own communities.

While launching as a pilot series, OCL aims to educate and inspire over 200 youth in its first cycle. The program features a multi-session curriculum featuring marine science experts and covering topics such as the ocean's function as a carbon sink, the critical role of phytoplankton, and innovative "Blue Hope" solutions like blue carbon and sustainable fisheries. We are always open to new speakers, so please email tlin@theharbourschool.edu.hk to express interest!

Operating under the umbrella of the World Ocean Day organization, OCL leverages a global support system for youth advocates. In the future, we hope to establish global hubs of ocean-climate learning to impact students globally to act for our planet.
