About Me

I am KD a 17-year-old student from Afghanistan who is deeply committed to learning, community service, and creating positive change despite the challenges facing girls’ education in my country. After completing ninth grade, education for girls was banned, but I refused to let this stop me. I continued my studies independently through online classes and successfully completed a variety of educational programmes, strengthening both my academic skills and my resilience.

My passions extend across many areas. I am an avid horse rider and swimmer, activities that give me confidence, strength, and peace of mind. I also have a strong interest in photography, through which I capture meaningful moments and express stories that reflect the beauty and struggles of everyday life. In addition, my experience assisting my mother—a dedicated doctor in our community—has exposed me to the world of healthcare from a young age. Through supporting her with patients, I gained nursing skills that taught me responsibility, empathy, and the importance of serving others.

Travel has played an important role in shaping my worldview. I have visited India, Pakistan, Iran, and Uzbekistan, each journey expanding my understanding of culture, diversity, and global perspectives. These experiences, combined with my personal circumstances, have strengthened my determination to contribute to social improvement, particularly in the field of healthcare. My diverse interests, life experiences, and commitment to community well-being guide my mission to empower those around me and pursue a meaningful future.

Project Description

My project focuses on improving access to essential healthcare services for underserved communities in Afghanistan, where many families struggle to receive timely medical support due to limited resources, distance, and social barriers. Inspired by my mother’s work as a doctor and by my own experience assisting her with patients, I have seen firsthand how urgently accessible healthcare is needed—especially for women, children, and vulnerable households.

As I continue to build my academic foundation, I am planning to formally launch this project in the near future. The initiative aims to provide community members with easier access to basic medical knowledge, preventive health information, and reliable connections to qualified healthcare providers. By combining my nursing experience with guidance from medical professionals, the project will work to raise awareness, support early treatment, and reduce the number of preventable health issues.

In the first phase, the project will focus on:

• Offering informational resources about common health concerns

• Providing guidance on preventive care

• Helping families understand when and where to seek medical help

• Supporting women and girls who face additional barriers to healthcare

As the project grows, I envision forming partnerships with local clinics, and by requesting support from NGO organizations, volunteer medical workers, and community leaders to expand our reach. My long-term goal is to establish a sustainable, community-led system that improves everyday health knowledge, increases access to care, and empowers families to make informed decisions about their well-being. Ultimately, I hope this model can be expanded to additional communities, helping build a healthier and more resilient society across Afghanistan.
