IIELTS scores are recognised by universities and colleges, employers, immigration authorities and professional bodies. Over 1.4 million candidates take the test each year. IELTS is recognised by more than 6000 educational institutions in over 135 countries.
The rules for English proficiency exams to support a visa or immigration to the UK underwent major changes in 2015. This essentially means that the IELTS Academic is the only English exam that can now be used to gain visas for university study and professional registration. The IELTS General Training is now the only valid exam for study or training below degree level. A new exam called IELTS Life Skills has been introduced for people wanting visas to join family in the UK. Please check the official UK government information here.
You can also find lots of official information from The British Council.
IELTS is an English proficiency test which evaluates a candidate’s reading, writing, listening and skilling skills.
The test is recognised worldwide and is particularly preferred by students and working adults in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and Australia.

“The IELTS course at ITS equipped me with the essential skill of sitting the IELTS exam in a month’s time. The assessment test, with a detailed feedback on my strengths and weaknesses, gave experienced candidates such as myself the perspective and guided me towards achieving a higher score. IELTS classes at ITS are very interactive and engaging. Not only was I encouraged to ask questions, I was also able to further broaden my knowledge and understanding of the English language. In short, it is a comprehensive and effective course for any prospective IELTS candidate.

“I learnt many new things about IELTS and English from the teacher. I learnt how to write reports and develop a strong argument in my essays and read a long passage quickly. These were useful things for the IELTS exam and also for daily use in English.” Angus Chan Po Leung Kuk Ngan Po Ling College>
“I thought IELTS was very difficult at first. We have to do many things in a short time and there were a lot of new words which I didn’t know, but the teacher was very helpful and encouraging. There was always a lot of work to do in the classes but it was very helpful to prepare for the IELTS. I had much more confidence when I took the IELTS exam after the class from ITS.”
